Sue believes in approaching treatment through a holistic perspective, acknowledging that optimal mental health management is facilitated by addressing one's physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. She adopts a compassionate and empathetic approach, understanding that people's behaviours and attitudes are grounded in their unique life circumstances and experiences. Sue values building trust with her clients and is proactive in maintaining the therapeutic relationship to achieve long-term and sustainable outcomes.
Sue is a registered general psychologist with AHPRA, where she has worked with veterans, injured workers, and the aged care population. Through this experience, she has gained a sound understanding of anxiety-related disorders, depression, cognitive decline and traumatic brain injuries, trauma-related disorders, and chronic health issues. She has also collaborated with government departments and insurance companies to facilitate positive outcomes for her clients, gaining valuable knowledge of the processes and procedures required.
Sue is competent in delivering evidence-based cognitive, behavioural, and psychodynamic therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Reminiscence Therapy, Grief Counselling, Adjustment to Injury Counselling, Vocational Counselling, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
She adopts a client-centred, goal-directed approach, tailoring each treatment to suit the individual’s needs. Sue also recognises the importance of cultural differences and how these can impact mental health management.
